Apple dictionary defines lifeline as "a thing on which someone or something depends or which provides a means of escape from a difficult situation." What's your lifeline? Could be water to quench your thirst, bananas to satisfy your hunger? Yeah right, more like fanta and pizza. Haha! Could be that cap to save your hair from glares? Could be a girdle to 'suck belle make your shirt fine' ? Could be your phone or fingernails?
Could even be a person and not a thing? Someone that quenches a thirst and hunger you can't fully explain and gives you joy, a reason to live, makes you free from guilt and shame?
